Dr. Maya Salameh is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine and went on to complete an Internal Medicine Residency and Chief Residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dr. Salameh subsequently began her informal training in Vascular Medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center where she served on the faculty for 5 years and eventually became medical director of the vascular ultrasound laboratory within the Division of Cardiology. She also served as the Director of the Cardiology Fellow Vascular Medicine Block Rotation at Columbia University and was responsible for creating a comprehensive Vascular Medicine curriculum for the cardiology fellows. She subsequently joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in Vascular Medicine in 2010 - she currently serves at the medical director of the vascular imaging laboratory at Cardiovascular Specialists in Frederick where she maintains a busy Vascular Medicine practice. Dr. Salameh has also collaborated with the Epidemiology group at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health to serve as Co-PI in the PASOS trial, designed to comprehensively evaluate the burden and prognostic values of peripheral artery disease and objectively measured physical activity in Hispanics. She has lectured extensively on peripheral artery disease and vascular imaging at both regional and national conferences. She has authored multiple review articles, including articles on thoracic aortic aneurysm, aortic dissection, and PAD. She has also authored several book chapters on PAD, including recent ones on PAD epidemiology, treatment of claudication, and PAD in regions with limited socioeconomic resources.
